Today the world joins South Africans as they mourn the death of their country's first black president.
There will be an official memorial service held in Johannesburg on Tuesday, December 10 at the First National Bank Stadium.
Following the service his body will lie in state at the seat of Pretoria Wednesday through next Friday.
Afterwards, on December 15, 2013 there will be a state funeral in Qunu, Mandela's final resting place. It will be broadcast worldwide to remember a man with many great accomplishments including ending apartheid in his beloved country.
In addition, there will also be a private farewell ceremony for close family and friends.
