According to his agent, the legendary Irish actor passed away on December 14 at London's Wellington Hospital after battling a long illness.
He was 81.
The eight time Oscar nominated actor who received an Honorary Oscar in 2003 was known for such movies as Lawrence of Arabia, The Lion of Winter, My Favorite Year, Venus, The Ruling Class, Troy and had appeared on Showtime's The Tudors portraying Pope Paul III in 2008.
Peter O'Toole is survived by his three children, daughters Kate and Pat and his son Lorcan O'Toole.
